1930 was founded Societatea Anonimă Română de Telefoane (SART, "Romanian Telephone Company, Ltd.").
The main investor was the US company ITT (International Telephone and Telegraph)
1949 after the end of WWII
SART was nationalized
becoming a division of the Ministy of Post and Telecommunications.
1989 Creation of ROM-POST-TELECOM independant from the ministry
as a step towards
liberalization of the Romanian Telecom market.
1991 Company renamed as Romtelecom
1997 35% of Romtelecom sold by the Romanian Government
to OTE (Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation) from Greece.
An additionnal 18% were acquired by Romtelecom.
2014 Romtelecom mergers with Cosmote România
and changes company name to Telekom Romania.
The logo of Deutsche Telekom is adopted
Telekom Romania can be considered
as the historic operator of Romania
the state of Romania still holding a participation.
